Marlene and Suzy lead Compassionate Wise Care with deep experience in disability support, a shared commitment to person-centred care, and a focus on supporting people with dignity and purpose.
Marlene has been in the disabilty space since working with her daughter Suzy, in 1998.
Her many roles include; Case management, Support worker and specialised in Dementia, mental health and brain injury.
She decided that she could give more personalised care by opening up her own business to provide her style of support.
Marlene is the 'compassion' to Compassionate wise care.
Suzy joined her mother, in building the compassionate wise care family, after having worked in the disabilty and nursing spaces since 1998.
She worked in the Deaf and Blind Institute as a teachers aide.
AUSLAN is something that she became interested in after looking after a young woman with Deafness as her sole disabilty.
Nonone knew (including staff) how to communicate with her, so Suzy learnt AUSLAN to support her.
She worked with Marlene for many years before completing her Nursing qualification.
Nursing led her in many directions.
This includes: After Hours Support Nurse role, which facilitated education to all staff and focus on new graduate nurses.
Assisting Opertaing theatres in recovering patients and caring for them to ward transition.
Managing the Australian Defence Force Hospital Medical centre triage service.
Duties include supporting members in Pscychological, medical and social support. Preparing them for combat and deployment.
Nursing research with UWS, supporting the PHD students and professors in thier projects.
Passionate about caring for children, she gained employment as a Nurse in the Sydney Children's Hospitals-Sydney Children's and Westemad Children's.
All specialties and all areas of Nursing, made her a versatile and dynamic part of the Network.
Suzy's passion has gotten her to where she is now, leading a team to successfully support the community.
